Our Parks Day – Spring
Saturday, May 6, 2017, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
We need your assistance for Our Parks Day on Saturday, May 6, 2017, from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. The Asheville Parks and Greenways Foundation will be supporting the City of Asheville Parks by working at both Carrier Park and Haw Creek Park spreading mulch on the walking trails. Your support of these beautiful parks will benefit all families who use the park on a regular basis.
Volunteers Needed: We are looking for volunteers to help with this project, and knowing that you have been generous with your time and efforts in the past, we are asking you to consider working with us on May 6 any time between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.

Highland Ale Share
Saturday, July 25, 2015, 1:00 pm
Join Highland Brewing’s 1st annual beer festival where 100% of ticket-sale net proceeds will go to Asheville Parks and Greenway Foundation to help fund the East Asheville Greenway. This weekend is the former Bele Chere festival date and Highland plans to host Ale Share on this Saturday each year in support of the local community. There will be a great range of breweries with an extra VIP hour and limited ticket sales to retain comfortable space and short lines for full enjoyment of the beer, brewery folks and friends. Enjoy great local/regional music and food trucks.
Volunteers Needed: We are looking for 96 volunteers (48 for each 3 l/2 hour shift) to help with this project, and knowing that you have been generous with your time and efforts in the past, we are asking you to consider working with us on July 25.
Night Flight Race
Saturday, July 11, 2015, 8:00 pm
Highland Brewing Company once again sponsors the Highland Night Flight on Saturday, July 11, from 8:00 – 11:00 pm. This four-mile race will be centered at the brewery in East Asheville. Afterward, celebrate with friends at Highland with food, music and delicious fresh beer at the post-race party. This race donates 100% of net proceeds to charity! Last year over $13,000 for Asheville Greenways was raised to go towards an East Asheville Greenway.
We raised our spirits with a race hard won (remember those hills – oh yes you do).
We raised glowing pint glasses with smiling, sweaty friends – what could be better?
Asheville Half Marathon and 10 K
Saturday, June 6, 2015
The 13.1 Asheville Half Marathon and 10K begins and ends in Pack Square and runs through the streets of Asheville and along the French Broad River. Entertainment will be provided by the Music Initiative throughout the entire race course; a local artist at every mile marker!
Volunteers Needed: We are looking for 25 volunteers to help with this project, and knowing that you have been generous with your time and efforts in the past, we are asking you to consider working with us on June 6.

This year’s Asheville Half Marathon and 10K will once again benefit the many wonderful organizations who work so hard to make a difference in our community to include the Asheville Parks and Greenways Foundation.

USA Cycling Collegiate Road National Championships

The Asheville Parks and Greenways Foundation is looking for volunteers to staff three shifts on Saturday, May 9, to serve beer for Sierra Nevada during the Asheville leg of the USA Cycling Collegiate Road National Championships.
Volunteers Needed: We need four (4) volunteers for each of three shifts: 10:30 am-1:30 pm; 1:00-4:00 pm; and 3:30-6:30 pm.

Our Parks Day – Fall
Saturday, October 4, 2014, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
With more than 65 parks, recreation centers, and other “play” spaces in the cities inventory, the Asheville Patks and Greenways Foundation, partnered with the city and a cadre of volunteers in April to work on some of the maintenance needs at Carrier Park in West Asheville.
This Fall, the Foundation will once again partner with the city and promote an Our Parks Day at Haw Creek Park in East Asheville on Saturday, October 4, 2014, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The city has asked that our volunteers spread mulch along the trails at this beautiful neighborhood park.
Highland Ale Share

Highland Brewing Company celebrated its 20th anniversary with the inaugural Highland Night Flight on Saturday, July 12, at 8:00 pm. This four-mile race will be centered at the brewery in East Asheville and includes a loop that has never been raced on before. Afterward, celebrate with friends at Highland with food, music and delicious fresh beer at the post-race party.
2014 Wheel Ride for Asheville
Sunday, May 25, 2014, 9:00 am
VeloSports Racing hosts the 2014 Wheel Ride for Asheville, with proceeds to benefit the Asheville Parks and Greenways Foundation 2014 Campaign. Asheville Parks and Greenways Foundation, in turn, is earmarking all proceeds raised and donated to the renovation of the track at Carrier Park: The Mellowdrome. The track is a favorite place to ride, walk, run, train, or hangout for folks from infants to senior citizens — just checkout any nice weekend or weeknight at Carrier Park for proof.
Our Parks Day 2014
Saturday, April 26, 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Carrier Park is a hive of activity on the beautiful French Broad River with endless options for any level of outdoor play. Let’s show our appreciation for this important community resource by giving a few hours back. Projects: Sanding and sealing boardwalks, playground equipment, and benches; and trash pickup
Volunteer Oasis
Saturday, October 26 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
In partnership with AC Entertainment and Asheville Pizza and Brewing, the Asheville Parks & Greenways Foundation will host Volunteer Oasis in conjunction with the Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit. Participants may choose one of the following projects for their ‘Hands-on’ Experience to beautify two Asheville Parks & Greenways:
1) Carrier Park or
2) Broadway Avenue/Reed Creek Greenway
We will provide all supplies and tools. Volunteers must provide their own transportation.
Volunteer Thanks:
The First 50 registrants will receive a free t-shirt donated by Asheville Pizza and Brewing.
All volunteers are entered in to a raffle to win tickets to the Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit! (2 tickets for Saturday and 2 tickets for Sunday)
Volunteer Oasis participants are invited to Asheville Pizza and Brewing (Coxe Ave location) for a free pizza after!
